Crazy Art Nouveau Shoes and Bags
Art Nouveau, the first new decorative style of the 20th century based on nature, decoration and movement inspires with the message in itself and with the motifs. The students analyzed Art Nouveau motifs and messages and combined the results with their product ideas. Storyboards and sketch-boards are prepared for the presentation of the styling ideas with relevant color, garment, and fabric knowledge.
Adorning Our Bodies with Art Nouveau Istanbul
In this workshop, we dreamed/aimed to design instant body adornments inspired by the ornamental decorations of Art Nouveau in Istanbul. Each work-shopper studied either a certain façade ornamentation or interior ornamentation of an Art Nouveau building in Beyoğlu; and turned it into a two or three-dimensional body adornment using mixed media. The preferred mixed media were fabrics, trimmings, ropes, strings, laces, beads, objets trouvés, and necessary fittings that led to instant and wearable body adornments.
Ceramic Workshop aimed to interpret Art Nouveau with the plastic abilities of ceramic. Main working materials were clay, over/under glaze paints and glass in different colors. Clay was shaped by slab construction method, three dimensional form applications were done with the casting method and decorating ceramic surfaces were applied with over/under glaze paints.
